Had A Rocking Day

Bought this great deal in Air Asia since last July for his birthday this year. Time flies by and it is 2012 and it is his birthday again. Which means we can stay in Hard Rock Hotel, Penang. Ever since the hotel opened, I have been hankering Mr. Tiger that we should stay in Hard Rock at least one in a lifetime. And my dream came true, all thanks to Air Asia where they had a promotion of 20% for all hotels in Penang. I managed to grab the deal at RM348 per room (for Hillview Room).

We started our journey to Penang on 11am and reached Penang 12:30pm. Due to I have given the wrong direction, we have ended up in town area and stuck in the traffic jam. Finally we gave up on searching the road to Batu Feringghi and buzz my friend, Lvin for help. He managed to guide us out of the mess and really want to say a BIG thanks to him. We reached Straight Quay around 2pm and went straight looking for food. Mr. Tiger was damn famished at that time and we settled down in Dome.

After our luncheon, we went straight to Hard Rock Hotel without wasting any precious time. Finally for the first time, I stepped my foot in this so called rocking and trendy hotel. The moment you stepped in the lobby, the staff there was friendly and greeted you. We went to check in and lucky enough, their smoking area rooms were all occupied so the receptionist has given us room in non-smoking area but Mr. Tiger can smoke at the balcony. Once we entered the room, I was stunned as the price we paid is for hillview but guess what, we got a seaview room with balcony. It was our lucky day, I guess =)
After settling down, Mt. Tiger crawl to bed and snore like pig. Seems like he was so fatigue which he fall asleep in jiffy. I went down to the hotel to have a walk and took some pictures as I don’t feel any drowsiness. When I walked into the Hard Rock shop, people were greeting you with “have a rocking day”. Wow, what a good slogan and just like Air Asia’s slogan “Everyone can fly”. It was short yet full of meaning and it did bring out the best image of the hotel. You won’t listen to people telling you this slogan in any other hotel in the world, I guess. After my walk, I went back to the room for my book while waiting Mr. Tiger to wake up from his sleep.
Once he woke up, we change into our swim suite and off we go to spend a languid evening by the pool side. Lazing ourselves on the beach chair was such a relaxing way to chase away the madness of our city life. With a great book around, I can laze around and tuning out all outside noises, and simply nurturing the peaceful side of me. After had enough of the pool, we took a leisurely stroll along the beach and mesmerize the moment of sunset. It was so serene and peaceful to the mind.

At night, we went looking for a simple place to have our dinner because we were still very full from lunch. The foods we ordered during lunch were all in cheese form, that’s why we can still feel the fullness. We just walked into a cozy restaurant where they served Chinese cuisine, Western cuisine and Malaysia cuisine. I had order myself a fish and chip only as I don’t have appetite in food. After our dinner, we went back to the hotel for some rest =)

The next day, after our breakfast, we packed our stuff and headed to Queensbay mall to hunt for my dress as my cousin is having a wedding dinner next month. Oh ya, didn’t mentioned about the breakfast. It was arguably the best breakfast buffet and you are spoilt with many varieties of foodies. Nom…nom…nom…by looking back at the photo, it was enough to make me drool. Nothing much touristy was done as I had been to Penang countless time. Haha…
Overall, can say that I came out completely rejuvenated. It was such a fun and enjoyable stay that I distinctively recalled every moment of it. So, be sure to have a stay in one of the finest hotel in the world at least one in a lifetime.

Screen Display

This is the wallpaper I put in my laptop this morning. Just to remind myself each and everyday that I should be grateful with my current life. There are people in the other side of the world who are living with no shelter and no food.

Sometimes it was good to cry your heart out when you are too stress with life.

Take it slow and steady.

Desert Flower By Waris Dirie

Been wanted to buy this book but due to limited book stores in Ipoh, finally I manage to grab a copy of it in Borders, Penang. And I finished the book in just one week time. It was indeed a great book that you’ll devour in and you can’t stop until you reach the last word. You will be inspired by how this small little girl from Somali can become an ambassador today. The story kept whirling around in my head.

This girl has run away from her tribe when her father forced her to marry with an old man in return of few camels. From the day she ran away, she never thought of going back again as if she was to go back to her parents’ side, she will be beaten and locked up to be married out one day to another old man. She ran for days to find help from relatives and her own sisters and throughout the whole journey to find her shelter, she had met all sorts of people and nearly got rape by some guy. With her strength, she never gave up on her life and continues to fight for a better life.

When the day she reached her auntie’s house and become their maid, she waited for that opportunity to come so that she can fly off to another country. Opportunity finally knocked on her door as one day there is an ambassador from Somali cam visit her auntie and he is looking for someone to work as maid in their house in London. It dawned upon Waris that she will need to tell her aunt that she wanted to go London to be a maid. So her aunt helps her to persuade the ambassador and off she went to London.

At London, while she worked as a maid. After the ambassador went back to Somali, Waris insisted to stay in London and she found herself a job as cleaner in Mcdonalds. She was scouted by a photographer which he just wanted to take photo of Waris. When her photo was being published, there is some model company called up which interested to sign her as a model. From there she worked her way up to show the world that if you have fate in yourself then you will be succeeding one day. Lastly, she has become the ambassador for United Nation and together they fight to stop Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) issue in Africa.

This book has actually opened my eyes and heart to see the world differently. Every day, there are people suffering in the other side of the world while I am just sitting in front of my laptop. Am wondering what can I help to change the world? Been a child sponsor myself for 3 years now and am glad that I am helping this kid to have a better life. Although I am not doing anything big but if everyone of you join hands together, we can help to build a better world for all this kids.

A highly recommended book from me =) This book has touched every bit of my heart.

Quote I like the most in the book – I was always looking for a way to make things better, push myself forward and find whatever that mysterious opportunity was that I knew was waiting for me. Every day I wondered, ‘When is it going to happen? Is it today? Tomorrow? Where am I going to go? What am I going to do? Why I thought this, I’ve never known. I guess at that time I thought everyone had these voice inside them.

This voice has been with me all these while. It was pathetic that you can’t grab hold of your own life. I do not know what am I doing now and am just waiting for that mysterious opportunity to arrive. But another question pop out. When? Today? Next 2 years? Why…when…how…all these kind of questions have been bothering me. I just wish that I can have a job which I like and I know what I am doing and not following instruction each and everyday. I am like a stupid idiot who knows nothing at all! I need an opportunity for me to strive. God, please help me. Each and every day, my confidence getting lower and lower and sometimes I just felt that my existence to this world is useless. Haiz…
